The Village of Lakewood is built around large homes, golf course frontage and private club amenities. Properties here tend to have custom entry doors, unusual hardware and outbuildings, so most of the work is repair and adaptation rather than standard replacement: keeping original mechanisms serviceable and answering for what is inside them.
The Village of Lakewood is one of the smaller communities we serve by population and one of the larger by property. Custom doors, non-standard hardware and private club facilities all appear here in a way they do not in a typical suburb.
We work across the village and the surrounding Fox Valley. This page covers the work that large, custom-built property generates.
Custom doors and non-standard hardware
A custom or oversized entry door is a fabrication object, not a standard opening. Its lock may sit at an unusual backset, its stile may be too narrow for a conventional deadbolt, and its hardware may have been imported or made for the installation. Replacing that assembly is a joinery project, and it usually costs more than the entire rest of the security work combined.
The approach that works is to keep the body, the trim and the finish, and deal with the part that has actually failed. In practice that is the cylinder, the strike or the door alignment. Re-pinning or replacing a cylinder removes every unknown key while leaving the door untouched, and reinforcing the strike addresses the physical weakness without changing anything visible.
- Cylinder replacement and re-pinning in non-standard and imported lock bodies.
- Strike and frame reinforcement on doors that are too valuable to replace.
- Deadbolt installation positioned to suit the door construction rather than the tooling.
- Repair of seized or damaged mechanisms in custom hardware.
Master key systems for club buildings
Club and commercial buildings in the village have the same requirements as any premises with staff and members, but with a sharper distinction between areas. A pro shop, a locker room, an office and a liquor or equipment store all need different levels of access, and the people who need each level change with the season.
That makes a master key system the practical answer, with a defined hierarchy and a sub-master for seasonal staff. On the display and storage side, cabinet and case locks matter as much as door locks: a cam lock fitted through sheet steel is only as good as the material it is mounted in, and on a glass or thin-panel case the mounting has to be considered before the lock is chosen.
Golf course frontage and perimeter doors
Properties on or beside a course have an unusual feature: a large part of their boundary is open ground rather than a neighboring building or a street. That changes which openings matter. Patio and sliding doors facing the fairway, a pool house or a detached garage are all reached without crossing a driveway or a front path.
The measures that help are ordinary ones applied in the right places. A deadbolt rather than a latch on any door that leads outside, an auxiliary lock or multi-point hardware on a sliding panel, and enough lighting that an approach is visible. On a door that is genuinely exposed, resistance and visibility each do part of the job and neither does all of it.
Safes, valuables and the door around them
Properties with collections, jewelry or important documents need more than a locked door, and we handle safe and vault service including opening, repair and installation. The useful question is not which safe is best but what is being stored and how long it needs to resist, because that determines the container.
It is worth saying plainly that a lock and a safe are the last layers of a property, not the first. A strike anchored into a hollow jamb, or a safe that can be carried out of the building, undoes the rest of the spend. We will point that out rather than sell the more expensive item.
Office hours and scheduled access
Our hours are Monday through Saturday, 08:30 to 17:00, and closed on Sunday. Work on occupied property is arranged in advance so access arrangements and any staff instructions are settled before the visit.
Illinois license 191.000502 is issued by the state of Illinois, and building codes differ by state, so license and code statements here apply to Illinois only. Our service area covers Illinois and Wisconsin.
